On October 8, the main structure of MCC Huatian’s EPC project for fine desulfurization of blast furnace gas for the 180MW unit at Jiangsu Shagang Thermal Power Plant successfully topped out. This marks the completion of the civil construction phase and the official transition to equipment installation and electromechanical construction, demonstrating MCC Huatian’s solid strength in the industrial environmental protection sector and its capability for high-quality project delivery.
Located within the site of Jiangsu Shagang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. in Zhangjiagang City, the project is built to match the existing 180MW generating unit of the plant. It adopts MCC Huatian’s proprietary combined process of catalytic hydrolysis + deep adsorption. Featuring low energy consumption, high desulfurization efficiency and long operation cycle, the technology fully meets Shagang’s strict requirements for efficient, stable and energy-saving environmental solutions amid limited site space. It deeply removes hydrogen sulfide and organic sulfur at the front end of the gas source. Upon completion, the project will help Shagang Thermal Power Plant achieve near-zero SO₂ emissions in the gas combustion process. It provides key technical support for building a full-process clean production system, further improves the green production chain of Shagang’s thermal power section, raises the level of clean resource utilization of by-product gas, cuts environmental operation and maintenance costs, and facilitates the enterprise’s green and low-carbon transformation.
